Freedom

1                              Give me the long, straight road before me,
2                              A clear, cold day with a nipping air,
3                              Tall, bare trees to run on beside me,
4                              A heart that is light and free from care.
5                              Then let me go! – I care not whither
6                              My feet may lead, for my spirit shall be
7                               Free as the brook that flows to the river,
8                              Free as the river that flows to the sea.
                                                                                                Olive Runner

Stuck in the Cumberland Gap, KY

SNOW Day - We're stuck and staying put in Kentucky until the weather clears...we can't make it through the Cumberland Gap and are awaiting Daniel Boone to help us through.

Discuss with your families - do you think Pioneers and Settlers had snow days?
How did snow affect travel?  How did they stay warm? Did they even have mittens?

Dear Parents/Friends/Caregivers,

We hope this note finds you well and seeing the imaginative possibilities of armchair travel at a time when so many are feeling confined.  Several have reached out to thank me for the our virtual "travel plan" which is easy to follow day-by-day.  Thank you, and thank you for helping me keep education lively and fun for these two classes which I miss very much.

Just check the blog and continue on our virtual cross-country field trip. It's important that you keep up with us on the journey.  Like a wagon train, we don't want folks to fall behind. We'll fare better (and have better discussions) when we travel together from state to state.

Please spread the word and tell your classmates to get on board for the cross-country trip.  If you have any questions please send me an email: ccassell@rivendellschool.org

Kindly,
Mr. Chris
